Southern Center and Lead Regional Coordination Center
The Lead Regional Coordination Center, operating in conjunction with the Southern Center, facilitates collaboration between the Southern Center for FSMA Training, Northeast Center to Advance Food Safety, North Central Region Center for FSMA Training, Extension, and Technical Assistance, and the Western Regional Center to Enhance Food Safety. The overall goal of the Lead Regional Coordination Center (LRCC) is to establish a collaborative framework and hub infrastructure that promotes coordination and communication among regional efforts, as well as with the national stakeholders including federal regulatory agencies and funders of food safety outreach programs.
The 2023 USDA NIFA Food Safety Outreach Program National Project Director's Meeting in Tampa, FL, hosted by the Lead Regional Coordination Center (LRCC) and the 4 regional centers for FSMA training: Southern (SC), North Central (NC), Northeast (NECAFS) and the Western Regional Center to Enhance Food Safety (WRCFS). It was a one-and-a-half day meeting, where more than 100 attendees, in-person and virtual, participated and had the opportunity to learn about great awarded FSOP presentations from Project Directors from all around the nation.
In addition, we all had the opportunity to learn of the latest updates from Food Safety outreach activities from the 4 regional centers for FSMA training, associated partner agencies and other regulatory agencies, including current FSOP program updates from USDA-NIFA representatives.
It was a great venue to share knowledge and exchange ideas for improving food safety education and outreach efforts.
Thank You! everyone that participated at and joined us this year in Tampa, FL.
